Psychology & Counselling

Do you need help?

Feeling stressed, overwhelmed, out of control? Talking to a psychologist can help. Psychotherapy provides a supportive environment where you can speak openly and confidentially about your concerns and feelings. You may find it’s easier to tell your problems to someone you don’t know, who will keep your issues confidential and offer an objective perspective.

Why choose a psychologist?

By studying how people think, feel and behave from a scientific viewpoint, a psychologist can assist individuals in understanding themselves and changing their behaviours. A psychologist may be able to help if you’re experiencing difficulty with any of the following:

  • Anxiety
  • Panic attacks
  • Phobias
  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Post-traumatic stress
  • Grief
  • Anger
  • Marital and relationship issues
  • Difficulty sleeping or relaxing
  • Physical pain
  • Chronic health problems
  • Addictions

Professional Standards

To practice in B.C., a psychologist must be registered and regulated by the College of Psychologists of British Columbia. Educational requirements include the completion of both a graduate degree (currently a doctorate such as a PhD) and a one-year supervised internship. Registered psychologists in B.C. must follow an ethical code and standards of professional practice as defined in the Health Professions Act legislated by the Province of British Columbia.

Compassionate Care

Through therapy, a psychologist can ultimately help you to lead a healthier, more productive life.
